Halo Cryptum, The Ascent

Here we have a scene from the Greg Bear Halo novel Cryptum depicting the Didact and his companion's departure from the Djamonkin Crater on Erde Tyrene (Earth 100,000+ years ago) just as the Master Builder arrives with his flagship escorted by a Forerunner mining ship and has launched a considerable number of smaller strike craft to surround the area.
I had something a little different in mind when this began, the background would be the same but the P.O.V. would be from behind the platform carrying the Didact, Bornstellar, Chakas and Riser as it ascends into the ship while it is being built but I opted for the current view so to fit all the relevant pieces clearly in view.

This took on and off around 4 hours on an Ipad using Autodesk Sketchbook Pro.
